I am a middle aged doctor, fairly sensible in so many areas of life. It is true, though, that I buy Salvia occasionally and enjoy using it to help me hallucinate and explore my spiritual side. This does not make me a bad person, though I have no doubt that in the eyes of many reporters and politicians it should do.
The fact is that anyone wanting to buy Salvia can do so and be completely on the right side of the law. Apart from a handful of US states, and Australia the act going to buy Salvia is legal throughout the world. There is a reason that it has remained legal for so long, and that is because it is harmless and not at all dangerous. It doesn’t turn those who buy Salvia into raving madmen nor does it impair their ability to be a useful member of society.
The political and media raving about Salvia smells suspiciously like groups of bullies who have found an easy target on which to pick. Salvia is the kid at school who gets his head flushed in the pan, just because the older boys can. Why should I be alienated because I like to smoke Salvia? Beats me.
