Compared with how much Salvia I used to use, I am but a casual user now. I still buy salvia from my online stockist once a month or so, but this is nowhere near as often as I used to buy salvia.
What I love about the mystic mint – and this is something I think about every single time I buy Salvia – is the way that it opens my mind and allows me to think about things that would previously be beyond my realms of reckoning. Some people buy Salvia in order to get high (they’re also often quite disappointed to find that it doesn’t actually make you ‘high’ in any way that you might think it would); I buy it to become more self aware.
The Mazatec shamans used Salvia to get in touch with their spiritual side. Whilst I confess I don’t really understand what it was exactly that they were aiming for (maybe that will come with time), I do understand how they can feel like it gives them a sort of introspection that is not possible without it. They say that Salvia enables you to see into the future, and to see through others’ eyes. I completely believe that this kind of experience is possible.
